Guitar Lessons in Boston
Who Am I?

My name is Grey.
After graduating from Berklee, I traveled to Thailand to delay the onset of responsibility. I taught myself programming and built a free guitar learning website.
I also taught myself Chinese, and my guitar instruction videos once had millions of views in China. However, my advocacy for freedom changed everything. My humorous songs went viral, gained millions of views, and were featured in the media. I am now proudly banned in China.
What I Do
I teach you to play guitar, and how to think musically.
I use modern methods to build traditional skills, laying the foundation of musical achievement.
My students don't just memorize songs, they actually learn to understand music.
I authored a complete start-to-finish system for learning guitar, with hundreds of free lessons.
Check out just one of my lessons, and you'll see the difference.
I also love the ukulele—it’s easy to pick up in just a few weeks, and best of all, the skills you gain transfer directly to guitar.

Yes! We are very close to the Symphony (Green) and Mass Ave (Orange) stops on the MBTA; the #1 bus also stops right outside.
We have loaner guitars available if you prefer to leave yours at home; however, it's recommended to bring your own, especially for the first lesson. This way we can have a look together at your instrument.
There is an amp available.
We have a few carefully selected guitars available for purchase.
If you want noticeable results, plan on spending about 30 minutes per day on most days. There is no upper limit.
A case could be made for either. Both are fine. The real question is, which one will inspire you to pick up the instrument every day?
Some children are able to start as early as 4 or 5 but it really depends on the child. For adults, you can start to learn an instrument any time. We've had students between 4 and 80 years old.
In short, probably not. Neuroplasticity is real and does diminish with age. The key is to temper expectations, measure progress, and enjoy the process itself.
Yes, in fact most of our students come in as complete beginners.
We're in an office building next to the old Midtown Hotel. The entrance is between Virtuosity Music and Bristol Studios on Huntington Ave in Boston, near Symphony Hall.
In the initial lesson we'll evaluate where you're at, compare that with your goals and interests, and make you a practice plan based on modern music pedagogy + applied neuroscience to help you reach that goal.
Lessons are not billed on a lesson-by-lesson basis; students are billed on a monthly tuition basis for a weekly spot. If you don't attend a given lesson, you will not be given a refund for that lesson; makeups are sometimes available on a limited basis. See lesson policies for more details.
Yes! A portion of our students attend primarily or exclusively via video chat.
What My Students Say

"After our lessons together, I can play many songs I've always wanted to learn. Grey customizes each lesson based on your learning goals.
